2021 Summer Youth Empowerment Camp
(Photos coming soon)
The CNMI Division of Youth Services’ 2021 Summer Youth Empowerment Camp kicked-off on Monday, July 12th at the newly renovated Kagman Community Center.
Children ages 5 to 12 filled the fields and courts with laughter and energy as they enjoyed the activities arranged by the DYS’ Family and Youth Enhancement Program. Day one allowed the kids to be introduced to a wide range of sports. Later in the afternoon, they were able to unwind and loosen up with a fun Hula activity led by Mrs. Dee Clayton.
Volunteers from different parts of the island were excited, too, as they led the children through the fun and games. The Team at DYS FYEP were just as excited for the return of their annual event which was affected last year, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the guidelines set to protect our community.
Physical activity is essential for our growing youth. Sports and recreation can be enjoyed by all members of the family and can boost both physical health AND mental health. The Summer Youth Empowerment Camp aims to keep our children active by engaging in activities that are easily accessible, even out here in the remoteness of the Mariana Islands.
The second session of the Summer Youth Empowerment Camp is designed for youth ages 13 to 17 years old. Registration is available online now, at dys.gov.mp or contact the DYS’s FYEP Unit at 670-237-1015/16/17/18.
